EDF is now offering free seven-year service and warranty package to customers purchasing an air source heat pump before 31August.

As the push to incentivise households to go the heat pump route rises, adoption growth has slowed compared to previous surges, and current deployment remains well behind the government's target of 450,000 installations annually by 2030, it is a sign that the UK public need more assurance of the value in switching.

But the rise in electricity prices, ironically to some extent pushed up by the green levy, have made switching less financially attractive. This is one reason the Government is toying with the idea of placing the levy on general taxation, but that, again, might be politically charged.

Anyway, EDF’s offering is a free seven-year manufacturer agnostic service and warranty package worth up to £750 and following the update to the Government’s Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) on 21 July 2026, customers are now able to install an EDF heat pump from as little as £4,100. All of which might be persuasive ahead of the autumn.

Toby Allen, director of business development at EDF, said: “We’re committed to helping more customers take control of their energy costs while reducing their carbon footprint. Air source heat pumps offer an opportunity to lower household emissions and, for many homes, reduce heating costs compared with traditional heating oil and gas boilers.”

EDF is also referring customers to Snugg for their Carbon Cashback programme, which gives eligible solar and heat pump customers the opportunity to be paid for the carbon savings generated by their installation. Customers on the scheme have the potential to receive Carbon Cashback payments of up to £2,000 over 10 years, subject to eligibility criteria and programme terms.
