Currys will boost to its Cash for Trash initiative, which allows customers to recycle unwanted technology. All old electricals deposited at any Currys store will receive at least a £10 voucher towards a £50 minimum spend, double the previous reward.
The Cash for Trash boosted offer runs from 11 June to 8 July, giving customers the chance to recycle anything with a plug or battery, regardless of where it was originally purchased, and Currys then either repair, refurbish, harvest for parts, or responsibly recycle the items.
Currys has been the frontrunner as a recycler of e-waste, collecting 1.7 million items last year, and has a dedicated repair and recycling operation in Newark, Nottinghamshire, one of Europe’s largest technology repair centres.
“It’s better for us, better for customers, and better for the planet to help keep tech in the hands of the people that need it for as long as possible,” commented Paula Coughlan, chief people, communications and sustainability officer.
