Consumer Scotland calls national action on insulation schemes

Following the recent report from the National Audit Office on insulation schemes, Consumer Scotland has renewed calls for national action across the UK governments, regulators, local authorities and industry to protect consumers in the transition to greener home heating.

Consumer Scotland first investigated this issue in June, and head of investigations Craig McClue said: “The findings from the National Audit Office uncovered significant failings in installation quality, oversight, and consumer protection. Consumer Scotland’s own investigation identified similar weaknesses, including fragmented quality assurance, inconsistent standards and inadequate oversight on installers and outcomes.”

Consumer Scotland has called for the establishment of a single, national framework for green heating and retrofit to ensure that future programmes deliver energy saving, with confidence and strong protection for consumers.
